Welcoming New TTC Foundation Trustees

Trident Technical College Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of two new board members: Philip Cavatoni of JW Aluminum and Lee Cox of Bank of America. Both leaders bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to supporting higher education and workforce development in the Lowcountry. These new members will serve from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028.

“I am excited to welcome Philip and Lee to the TTC Foundation board of trustees,” said TTC Foundation board chair, G.P. Diminich. “They are strong advocates for the role that technical colleges play in driving workforce development, and they bring a unique set of experiences that will help advance our vision of creating community investments today for tomorrow’s workforce.”

Cavatoni, Philip_2025.08.28 Photo.jpegPhilip Cavatoni serves as chief financial officer at JW Aluminum, representing Berkeley County. With more than 25 years of senior executive leadership experience, Cavatoni has served on numerous corporate, university and nonprofit boards. His corporate experience includes American Natural Consolidated Resources and Cimetrics Technologies. His university service includes the Foundation Board of Virginia Highlands Community College and the President’s Leadership Advisory Board at Drexel University. He has also supported youth and community development through roles with the Boy Scouts of America’s Sequoyah (Tennessee and Virginia) and Coastal Carolina (South Carolina) Councils.

Cavatoni is an active member of the Charleston and broader South Carolina business communities. Through his leadership at JW Aluminum, which partners with Trident Technical College on an apprenticeship program, Cavatoni plays a hands-on role in growing the region’s skilled workforce. His diverse experience and national network of relationships bring valuable perspective to the college’s governing board.

Cox, Lee_2025.08.28 Photo.jpegLee Cox, vice president and consumer banking market leader at Bank of America, represents Charleston County. Cox’s leadership includes service on the National Financial Centers Managers Advisory Council, where he mentors peers and supports professional development across the organization.

Cox began recognizing the value of accessible education while he was a student at the University of South Carolina, where he tutored fellow students and helped them overcome academic challenges. While in high school, Cox earned college credit through Tri-County Technical College’s dual enrollment program - an experience he credits with shaping his college success.

Today, Cox sees the critical role that technical colleges like TTC play in empowering individuals and communities. He looks forward to advocating on behalf of the college and strengthening its ties with the people and industries it serves.
